Review of the Sony HDV Z1 and Light & Motion Bluefin HD video system
Video camera: Sony HDV Z1 (1080i DVCAM)
Video housing: Light&Motion Bluefin HD
Optics: Standard port - waiting for the 110deg Ultra-wide angle optic
External monitor: Light&Motion 2.5" Active matrix monitor with remote control
Picture quality:
Outstanding. If you compare to DV its at least twice as good. Blue Ray players and TVs are hitting the market so distribution will not be a problem. DV cry boys better think again:-)
Basic handeling:
Easy to set up, takes five minutes max. Easy to operate underwater, all buttoms in good opositions. Great to have easely adjusteble Iris and WB controll. Balcance & Trim is easely achieved using the internal weight system. Heavy on land but what did you expect:-)
Standard flat port optic:
Is not good enough. You will need as much wide angle as possible. Go for the best.
Mounting on a scooter: (camera carrier)
Easily to mount on a Gavin scooter and achieve perfect balance. This is the way to go. The Norwegian guy Tony on this forum can custom build these mounts to fit Gates, Amphibico and Light & Motion. You can rotate and lock in any angle desired. Easy to mount and dismount. Se attached pictures.
