In January 2008, Divers Alert Network will hold their Technical Diving Conference. By pulling together physicians, researchers, and technical divers through a series of workshops, the ultimate objective is to combine the operational approach and the scientific/medical approach to current technical diving issues.
If you have the time and ability to attend this conference, I would highly recommend you go!

The two-day conference, planned for Jan. 18-19, 2008, in Durham, N.C., will feature four half-day workshops. These workshops offer an amazing array of knowledge shared by recognized experts in very specific arenas of technical diving. Discussions will focus on the operational and medical aspects of technical diving. The forum will also address ways to improve effectiveness and safety...
The DAN Technical Diving Conference will address technical diving with the following objectives as guidance:
--Establish communication between technical divers, diving physicians, and diving scientists;
--Provide objective information concerning what is known and unknown regarding technical diving; and,
--Establish the need for data collection and quantitative analysis to answer unresolved questions.
The conference format is designed to provide four half-day workshops which combine presentations, and panel and attendee discussions. Workshop discussions will include the operational and medical aspects of technical diving, and will also address ways to manage effectiveness and safety. Global leaders in their fields and in technical diving will chair the workshops and provide cutting edge information in the discussion sessions.
