Thought i would try o get some input from our forum members. I have been playing around with Flash and made a new banner for the OD site.

Does it look better or worse then the old one? You can have a preview here http://www.ocean-discovery.org/index2.html

The menu have been disabled in the preview.

Both looks very nice, but considering that it is a page that many users return to frequently, the forum in particular, I think the flash-thing might get anoying after some visits. Put in a different section, exlporation for example, I think it would blend in really well and create a desired effect of traveling thru time.

I like the black and white how, does SS Auguste Helmerich (?) in look in B&W.

Yes some people don´t like flash that much. I don´t think i will use it in the forum as it would be to distracting. The Helmerich picture looks OK in B&W. I wanted to add some color to the site though. To me it looks a bit color less with grey/blue. Maybe the green and blue don´t go well together? Anyhow i am working on a new flash banner now. Will see how that one turns out.

Hi Ingemar!
I think the first one: http://www.ocean-discovery.org/index2.html looks best.. And the one with the magnifying glass just doesn't do it for me, also because the light beige color makes it hard for the menu text to be visible.. But as Peter has pointed out in his post.. Flash can be very annyoing after a while if you don't change movies to it and maintain it..

index3...is the best!
Have you taken in that the menu is poorly visible when viewing the page while proclaiming that the index3 is the best?

After the chart fades out the menu is more visible on index3.

Hi

I think that the old one is more neutral. And that is mainly because it is in b/w and has nothing that catches your eyes that hard.

In the new ones my eyes are drawn to the big nice steering-wheel, which what makes that picture so nice. But I don't feel that the information on that page is as readable as it is with a picture like the old one.

That picture has so much to tell by it self! ;)
