Ahmed & I have a Russian friend with an IDA-71 who is converting it into an electronically controlled CCR. Quite a project, fascinating if you like dealing with millions of little technical details. We are at times a bit concerned for his safety, though.

Here mine rebreather on camerawork. It is once again altered and worked on regenerative substance OKCh-2. This type of substance is applied in devices to an output from burning buildings and rescue in mines. In comparison with O-3 this substance works more stably and is less aggressive. In a yellow cylinder air for a wing and for a reserve on the open cycle. In a dark blue cylinder oxygen. On several divings in a dark blue cylinder there was air. To use air regenerative c substance to me very much it was pleasant. Below I shall describe the further steps in this direction.

Were used IDA-71 and IDA-64 as with OKCh-2. IDA have been disguised under devices similar on Inspiration. It is not casual - I plan to make hybrid IDA and Inspiration. Therefore I have offered this idea to founders of film. It will look here so:

After camerawork, and has continued experiences with regenerative substance and air. Preliminary I have taken a tube of an exhalation from a respiratory bag and have placed it outside of a bag:

In a bag I have inserted the case of the oxygen gauge into an aperture. Test of the device was spent without the gauge.

The sense of these actions consist that at the maximal factor of regeneration pp02 all the same would not exceed value 1.6. I have successfully tested this variant rebreather on depth of 20 meters.

Following step in it a direction became new rebreather. Its idea that case IDA-71 too big and heavy for the scheme "OKCh + air". For the scheme " OKCh + air " quite enough one canister and one cylinder. Besides I have decided to not put on rebreather a regulator and pitting valve. Presence of these two units in a contour prevents to carry out to the full management of the device besides these two units have additional weight and volume.
More shortly I have solved, that the device will be collected in case KIP-8. In the device it has been put standard IDA scrubber. The respiratory bag has been altered. A general view. Submission of air is carried out from the 7 liter cylinder issued as stage. For submission of air it was possible to use the 1 cylinder in the device, but for tests I have taken the 7 liter cylinder:

The device was twice tested on depths up to 23 meters and worked superb. It is much easier and more convenient IDA-71 and for immersings with regenerative substance I shall use it.

this is very intresting. It would be nice to see some more picture of your unit underwater and read a bit more about the performance.

Just out of intrest, where did you buy the Russian RB and hw much has it cost to do it all up.
