Hello all!
Witch lighting systems are you using for video! Halogen, HID or HMI and how many watts, one or two?
The Halcyon HMI200 use witch voltage? Witch Company made the bulb? How you can adjustable from 100 to 200 watt? Is the ballast also on the head or in the tank?
Thanks for your answer!
ciao Oliver

I'm using the Salvo dual 24 watt HID's. They seem to work pretty well and the Li-ion batteries in theory give me 2.5 hours burn time.
I think I did have some unreasonable expectations of how well lighting in general would work, especially when there are a lot of particles and still some ambient light, but in general I am pleased with them.
A friend locally has the Halcyon 50W HID and I'm keen to compare them and see what I am missing out on :)

Nick,
Nice to see that you have found your way to this forum.
I am shooting some footage with my dual 50Ws tomorrow ... I'll burn you another DVD with the results. :)

Oliver,
I use Halcyon's Dual 50W HID setup and they are good lights. For a more complete light setup, our plans are to also aquire at least one 200W HMI light (which will be carried by another diver in the team) and use the 50Ws as "fill lights.".

Hi Oliver,
I think it is 24V, bit I am not really sure. Maybe Richard could answer those questions better. I assume you are thinking about building your own? There is a guy in Finland who have done that, and I believe he also sells them, but I do not have his contact information. Maybe someone else on this forum has that particular data.
Sincerely

Hello Anders!
Yes I think about building my own one. All my HID10W, 24W, all my Tanks and all my housing I construct by my self. The problem is, that I cannot find the ballast (normally you need a ballast and igniter) in the correct dimension. All I now are too big! The bulb normally is a Philips or Osram!
I use also for filming two HID24W with a NIMh10Ah included in my housing for a burn time around 2h. It works very well but the best solution is an "extern" illuminator!

For (deep)wreck (in usally not the best wiz) and cave I use 2x150W HLX halogen on the camera on long arms (80cm from the lens). Can take 250W but that makes the backscatter a bit bad on those arms.
Have a couple of stages with 2x250W HLX halogen. Not used them too much yet, needs lots of planning to get good shots.
All homebuildt, couldnt find the wattage/depth rating I wanted off the shelf.
Burntimes around 40-45 mins.

Hi Oliver,
I don't know the answer to witch company makes the bulbs and ballast. The ballast is located in the top part of the canister and you can adjust the output. I think that if you want a similar design as the Halcyon HMI, www.halcyon.net (http://www.halcyon.net) , you will save money and time buying one rather than building your own.
Warm regards
