Hi There,

Could anyone tell me what is the difference between the rb80 that Bouchally build and the one that is build in the USA by Halcyon?

And why should anyone choose to do a rebreather course after tech1?
I thought that you don't use it unless you realy need it!

Go and get it

RB80 course can be done after Tech-2.

check GUE's standarts and find out that that is not the case.

The Rebreather Diver 1 course is designed to 1) educate individuals in basic rebreather technologies, 2) cultivate diver proficiency in the use of Halcyon's semi-closed circuit technology, and 3) introduce divers to the use of enriched air. The Rebreather 1 course assumes that individuals are capable divers, but have limited experience in the use of rebreather technology.

Prerequisites

Must meet GUE General Course Prerequisites as outlined in Section 1.6 (http://www.gue.com/Training/genreqs.html#1.6)
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Must be GUE DIR Fundamentals and GUE Tech 1 qualified or equivalent

The standards on the GUE website are not updated. Download the standards and you will see that Tech 2 is required for RB80.

Micha, EKPP, is a member of this forum and the best person to discuss differences, if any, between euro vs. US RB80.

Take care

...but Micha seems strangely quiet... I am curious about hearing this too.

I spoke to him today - he's away sailing. Sure he'll stop by soon :)

Hmmm, hi, here i am after some cool sailing.
Letīs say in the beginning they had changed some things without talking to Reinhard first, like going from metric to imperial with some stuff.
This relsuted in the units venting a little more gas.
But the current units seem to be OK from what i have seen.
There is no way one can get one of reinhards units anyway without diving with us and we also fully support GUE in their strict training policy and standards.

Well, what is the difference then? Was it just the metric vs. imperial stuff? :)

Just out of curiosity: Are you saying that an GUE RB course would qualify you to get one of these units, or that you offer equivilant training, or that you need to to the GUE RB course as well as dive with you in order to get such a unit?

They also have other stifer flapper-valves, but they are perfect, in one of my units i am also diving such a valve.
If people dive with us for a certain period and we think they are ok for breathers (at the end of OC-diving) then they can ask Reinhard to produce a unit and do the training.
We will not do any training outside the team or for "US-RB80".
We can talk a bit in Stockholm if you are at the conference, if you want to chat about breathers.
