View Full Version : Size problems with Scuba Pro Jet Fin

For the first time in my 14 months diving career i encountered a strong current on a dive. Unfortunly with my lack of experience i did not identified the risk until it was to late. At the turnpoint of the dive it suddenly struck me that we had a strong current when i saw that the particles was flushing hard against my mask when we did the 180 degree turn back to our start point. We solved the problem and made a SMB exit up to the surface and signaled back to the boat. I can say that i was in a lot of shame when i got back to the boat after this silly dive.

The good point in the history is that i understod that my Scuba Pro Twinjet (soft splitfins) is absolutly worthless and can be tossed in the trashcan at home because they are way to soft to be used in any water. I have soon changed every part of my gear so I made my way down to the store to have a try session with different sizes of Jet Fins. To my surprise i cant get a grip of the sizes of these fins. On my Ursuit drysuit i have neoprenboots size 10 (43-44) and i use Weezle Extreme socks inside. The XL size seems to small and the XXL is way to big.

There must be divers out there that have the same shoesize as I and how do they use theese fins? I can proberbly squeese in my foot in a XL but i am afraid that it will get uncomfortable in the long run? On the otherhand i never seen any other type of fins on the kind of divers i look for when it comes to inspiration of my "rebuild" on my divegear.

Please if you can spare some time and comment my thoughts i would be very grateful to you all.

Best Regards
Daniel

Hi

Yes its a very common story.
There are turtlefins that are of the same quality as the jetfins.
And have the size that is just between scubapro xl and xxl.
You should ask your local dealer.

Hi!

I got the same suit and size as you (maybe even one size bigger ,11).
I'm using XL size Scubapro Jetfin. when you tryed did you test with wet boots or dry? I got problem to get the fins on if the boot are dry, but if I get in the water that is no problem. As insulation I use swedish armys bootsocks (grey and thick).
The fins are tight... if the finstrap (I use spring heels) would break, I would't lose the fin :D anyway!!! but I still don't freez...

So... try the fins with wet boots

Well I was advised to softwen the XL scubapros in 80Degrees water for 10 minutes, then put boots in them to widen them out.

Sounds crazy, but worked. I am size 43.

I have size 47 feet and wear SP XL jets all the time. This is with DUI turbo solesand 2 to 3 pair of socks.

The big trick, put your fins on in the water. Once the air has been compressed out of the boot. You should be able to get a good fit.

The issue I have with the Turtles and XXL jets is they are too wide of a foot pocket. The height of the pocket is a little lacking too.

Cheers!!

I finaly got me a pair of Scubapro Jetfins with springstraps and tryed them for the first time during one week of diving in the Red Sea. The issues i (thought) had with the size when i drytested them in the store was non excisting in the water. They fit like a dream once in the wet element and realy made a big step forward for me in the water even with my poor propulsion technice.

Two thumbs up for theese fins!
