View Full Version : Scooter Mounting Cameras

Just finished a training dive with a Sony FX1 in a Gates housing mounted on a mini Gavin.

It trimmed nicely - slightly positive with the housing acting as a fin and remaining vertical, I mounted the camera at 12:00.

I took no stages and was able to keep up with 2 guys with 3 stages. A later dive with 3 stages and the camera worked but at a significantly reduced speed. I dont think that config would be effective in a current.

Now the concept is proven one of our team ( Ryan ) will make up a decent mount and we can start hitting the deeper wrecks.

Cool Andrew!

Can you post some pictures on your video mount here? Andrew is using the mini-Gavin so its realy interesting to hear about his findings mounting the relative large housings for the Hi-Def cameras.

I also like to see how you mount the adapter to the scooter body

I am considering building amount to my Gavin for videocamera

Thats hard core Andrew. Im putting mine on my standard Gavin today and will update with photos as soon as I find time. Thanks for the pics!

Hello Richard!

Do you have images of your mounting system upload? I can not find them! I fix the housing with the poseidon quick snap system on my short tube and standard Gavin! I can very easy unfix and mounting the housing under wather!

Did you find your method to mount the video to the Gavin working !?

I have a Cylindrical video Housing and could use a good angle for a custom mount design or purchase to attach on Mini Gavin.
Mangrove MVD/S housing: 80mm / 3, 1/8" Radius.
